Start with the story
Before you reach for equipment, decide what the viewer needs to see. A product detail, a conversation and a full-room demonstration all call for a different frame. Set your phone at the angle that makes the subject easy to understand.
Make the support part of the setup
Place a tripod on a stable, level surface, extend it within the limits in its instructions and secure your phone before recording. Keep the center of the setup balanced. A quick stability check is easier than replacing a dropped device.
Look for soft, even light
Try facing a window rather than putting the window behind you. A simple change in direction can make your subject clearer. For a consistent sequence, keep the light source and camera position the same between takes.
Give yourself a test take
Record a short clip and play it back. Check your framing, background, focus and sound. If you use a remote or tracking function, test that behavior with your phone and chosen camera app before the main recording.
Leave room to move
A clean frame does not need a perfect room. Move distracting objects out of view, leave a little space around your subject and check that any planned movement stays within the shot. Then concentrate on what you want to share.
